Here a poem by Sufi Poet Amir Khusro (1253 – 1325)
A post I did here a while back, ‘Freedom‘, was a song I composed as a framework for the voice of Rajesh David. You may remember?
For his latest recorded work, Rajesh sings the love poems of that Sufi poet Amir Khusro (above). He describes them as,
‘Eight soulful, energetic and heart opening songs, expressing Bhakti – Love for the Divine’.
Rajesh is an accomplished and versatile singer and composer, trained in Indian classical music. Born in India into a family of singers, he was a A-grade artist for All India Radio and Television. His compositions, influenced by Indian classical and folk traditions as well as contemporary music, are inspiring, energetic and heart opening. He also conducts Yoga seminars in UK and abroad.
You can hear samples from this work, and some of his other music on http://www.rajeshdavid.wix.com/rajesh
and more of his work on http://rajeshdavid.bandcamp.com
And in the fairly near future Rajesh has expressed a wish to work with me again…this time we’ll get his incomparable voice for a little longer than the short vocal passage on ‘Freedom’.
